Montmagny, February 27, 2025 – The Centre d’aide aux entreprises (CAE) Montmagny–L’Islet, in partnership with C.A.R.E. Montmagny–L’Islet, the Centre de services scolaire de la Côte-du-Sud, the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Région L’Islet, and the Carrefour Région Montmagny, is proud to announce the launch of the very first skilled trades fair titled Destination: Manufacturing Montmagny–L’Islet.
This event will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at École secondaire Louis-Jacques-Casault. It will bring together over 400 young people—primarily Grade 8 students and those in adapted learning programs—offering them a unique opportunity to explore the many exciting careers available in the Montmagny–L’Islet manufacturing sector.
This fair is of great significance to the MRC of Montmagny and the MRC of L’Islet. By visiting nearly 30 booths, students will be able to meet directly with representatives from local manufacturing businesses. Participating companies will have the chance to showcase their trades, their energy, and their values, inspiring the next generation of workers.
“Our manufacturing sector offers young people rewarding and promising career opportunities. This initiative is essential in countering the youth migration toward urban centers—a troubling trend that affects the vitality of our communities. Events like this are key to reversing that trend and encouraging young people to envision a professional future in their home region. This project is the result of a community-wide effort that reflects our collective commitment to building a strong and vibrant region. We want to inspire young people and highlight the skills and expertise of our local industries. Together, we can energize our region and offer our youth a bright future within our manufacturing companies,” stated the organizing committee of Destination: Manufacturing Montmagny–L’Islet.
We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of Mr. Mathieu Rivest, MNA for Côte-du-Sud, as well as the MRC of L’Islet and the MRC of Montmagny.
The organizing committee invites local manufacturing businesses to prepare their booths for the event. For more information, please contact C.A.R.E. Montmagny–L’Islet at 418-248-9559.
